Recovering From Surgery
Mini-Maze Recovery in the Western Mountain Region
Most of our patients from Ogden, Salt Lake Valley, Utah Valley or anywhere else in the country, stay in the hospital (St. Marks, Ogden Regional, Timpanogos) for no more than 3 days after surgery. Many of our patients return to normal activities after just 7 - 10 days of recovery.
By utilizing the innovation of the On-Q pain pump, which delivers a local anesthetic to the incision site, Dr. Affleck eliminates the need for narcotic pain medications that can slow recovery and create side effects based on drug interaction.
Follow up visits are important to monitor your heart rate and to determine the discontinuation of antiarrhythmic and rate management drugs, as well as the elimination of Coumadin (warfarin) regimens.
During your initial consultation and at every subsequent appointment, Dr. Affleck will discuss every aspect of your recovery process, your follow up protocol, and when and how to resume physical activities.
Pursuing your surgical option is simpler and healthier than you think. Contact Western Cardiovascular Associates online or call us at 801-743-4750 today.
